A Self taught artist/musician, he started his career in painting in 1995, as a child he started drawing at an early age with the tutelage of his uncle. At the age of 10, he is a constant winner in local art competitions in schools. He took Civil Engineering and units in Art from International Correspondence Schools.
The first exhibit mounted in a Restaurant was sold out.
In 1996 He established the Manunggul Group of Palawan artists and become its head. Exhibitions were mounted from then on, in the local and in Manila circuit through the local Gallery and sponsoring institutions. The group also conducted workshops and talks for the propagation of art awareness.
He is consciously avoiding a single recognizable style, as styles to him were tools to express an idea, as painting to him is story telling in visual form.
His themes are diverse; mostly are depiction about the sea life and everything in it, from fisher folks, the environment, the marine life and the coral reefs. Part of his method is to explore on a single subject for a certain period of time and produce a series of works about these experiences.
He is a mixed media artist, although he is popular with his watercolor paintings of people and landscapes. He is a hyperrealist when depicting the figure but, a playful and lyrical abstractionist when depicting the abstract style.
In his method, he is utilizing materials available in his surroundings. He is constantly searching for that elusive Filipino identity and consciously asserting his position as a contemporary Palaweno artist. His inspirations were on social relevance, environment and the way of life of the islanders.
He is the In-house artist of Dos Palmas Island Resort and Spa in Palawan.
At present, he is exploring the use of sand as an art form. Part of his commitment to the community is to introduce sand painting as a better alternative to the expensive conventional art supplies.
